This is Aiko from Keio University.
Since last Monday, APRU doctoral student conference hosted by Keio has been held. I’m working for it as a student staff. Today we took them to Asakusa and we had a good time there. So let me introduce Asakusa a little bit.
Asakusa is a downtown area of Tokyo marked by Sensoji(Asakusa Kannon Temple). Although this area was destroyed during the War, it was reconstructed well. Asakusa is one of the most popular places for tourists where you can feel ‘old Edo’ atmosphere. The picture is Kaminarimon Gate. The Nakamise Dori, the colorful shopping arcade, must be a good place to buy some souvenirs. You can find traditional items like kimono, folding fans, mirrors or bookmarks with beautiful Japanese paper on very easily. Asakusa is included in one of the city tour courses during the leadership forum. Visiting Shinjuku or Sibuya is of course important because its center of Tokyo but walking Nakamise Dori, feeling Edo atmosphere would be nice too.
I’m looking forward to seeing you soon~~
